A useful, very brief overview of British naval equipment (vessels, weapons, uniforms) 1795-1815, with a final chapter on who were the other nations the British would encounter at sea, a small bit of information about their forces, and a bit about privateers and pirates. Excellently illustrated from period sources. Masses of detail have been omitted; where there are specifics, the author concentrates on those relevant to the Aubrey-Maturnin novels.
